    • Top (Chenille yarn): Bernat Blanket or any similarly weighted bulky Chenille yarn (6 weight)
  • Crochet Hooks:
    • 8 mm (L) hook for Sherpa yarn
    • 6.5 mm (K) or 7 mm hook for Chenille yarn
  • Safety Eyes: 12 mm (optional, you can also embroider)
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Stitch markers
    • Scissors
    • Tapestry needle for weaving ends
    • Measuring tape

Pattern:

Body

  1. Start: With Sherpa yarn and 8 mm hook, Chain 2.
  2. Round 1: Work 6 single crochets (sc) into the first chain. (6 sts)
  3. Round 2: Work 2 sc into each stitch around. (12 sts)
  4. Round 3: Repeat as Round 2. (24 sts)
  5. Rounds 4-15: Work 1 sc in each stitch around (use stitch markers to mark the start of each round). This will be a total of 12 rounds.

Measure the body to ensure it is approximately 8 inches tall.

Head

  1. Switch to Chenille yarn and the 6.5 mm or 7 mm hook. Work in the last sc of Sherpa yarn but finish the stitch with Chenille yarn.
  2. Round 1 (Head Start): 3 sc, increase around. (30 sts)
  3. Rounds 2-3: 1 sc in each stitch around.
  4. Round 4: 3 sc, decrease around. (24 sts)
  5. Round 5: 1 sc in each stitch around.

Eyes

  1. Mark Stitches: Count 16 stitches from the start of the round and mark.
  2. First Eye:
    • Skip 16 stitches and work 1 sc in the next stitch.
    • Round 1: Work 8 sc (total) in the next 8 stitches.
    • Rounds 2-3: 1 sc in each of the 8 stitches.
    • Round 4: Increase in each stitch. (16 sts)
    • Rounds 5-6: 1 sc in each of the 16 stitches.
    • Round 7: Decrease in each stitch. (8 sts); finish and leave a long tail to weave in.
  3. Second Eye:
    • From the marked stitch, count 4 back stitches. Attach Chenille yarn.
    • Round 1: Repeat the same steps as the First Eye.

Stuffing and Assembly

  1. Stuff the Body & Eyes: Using polyfill, stuff the body and eyes.
  2. Close the Eye Tops: Using a tapestry needle, weave through the front loops of the stitches of the last round. Pull to close.
  3. Sew the Eye Base: Use the tail left from initially attaching the new yarn. Whipstitch through the front loops of the remaining unworked stitches, securing them to the body.

Finishing Touches

  1. Attach Safety Eyes or Embroider Eyes:
    • For Safety Eyes: Place between rounds 10 and 11.
    • For Embroidered Eyes: Use worsted weight yarn; insert needle in round 10, form desired shape and size.
