How To Crochet Cute Cats

Materials:

  • Yarn in three colors: brown, purple, yellow (primary colors)
  • White yarn for color changes
  • Dark brown yarn for stripes (optional)
  • Black yarn for eyes, nose, whiskers

  • Stitch markers

Color Change Patterns (Round 5 onwards):

Brown Cat:
5. Round 5: 15 sc in brown, switch to white, 2 sc in white, switch back to brown, 15 sc in brown. (32)

  1. Round 6: 3 sc in brown, 1 inc repeat 3 times, switch to white to complete inc, 1 sc in white, 1 inc in white, 2 sc in brown, switch back to brown, 3 sc in brown, 1 inc 3 times, sl st to join. (40)
  2. Round 7: 16 sc in brown, 8 sc in white, switch back to brown, 16 sc in brown. (40)
  3. Round 8: 4 sc in brown, 1 inc repeat 3 times, switch to white to complete inc, 4 sc in white, 1 inc in white, 2 sc in white, switch back to brown, 4 sc in brown, 1 inc 3 times. (48)
  4. Round 9-10: Work 48 sc in white. Continue till the end of round 10. (48)

Yellow Cat:
Rounds 5-10 in yellow, unless for different parts see Round 11 instructions.

Purple Cat:
5. Round 5: 32 sc in purple. (32)

  1. Round 6: 3 sc, 1 inc repeat 8 times. (40)
  2. Round 7: 40 sc. (40)
  3. Round 8: 4 sc, 1 inc repeat 8 times. (48)
  4. Rounds 9-10: In purple, but with color change per the tutorial. Continue color changes as specified.

Forming Shapes:

Body:

  1. Round 11: 15 sc, 4 triple crochet clusters in the next stitch (explanation provided), 16 sc, 4 triple crochet clusters, 15 sc. (48)
  2. Rounds 12-16: Work even in color-based instructions.

Decreasing Rounds:

  1. Round 17: 15 sc, 4 triple crochet clusters, 16 sc, 4 triple crochet clusters, 15 sc. (48)
  2. Round 18: 4 sc, 1 dec repeat 8 times. (40)
  3. Round 19: 3 sc, 1 dec repeat 8 times. (32)
  4. Round 20: 2 sc, 1 dec repeat 8 times. (24)

  6. Round 22: 8 dec. Fasten off, weave in ends. (8)

Stuffing:

  • Fill the body with fiberfill, ensuring it is adequately stuffed.

Features:

  1. Eyes: In black yarn, embroider eyes on Round 8, 6 stitches apart.
  2. Nose: Add on Round 8, between the eyes with 2 stitches in between using black yarn.
  3. Whiskers: Attach whiskers with black yarn on Round 9, 3 stitches apart from eyes.
  4. Ears:
    1. Make 4 ch, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, sl st.
    2. Attach to Round 2-7.
  5. Tail:
    1. Attach to stitches at bottom of Round 17.
    2. Make 7 ch, 6 sc back, sl st.
  6. Stripes (Yellow Cat Only):
    • Dark brown yarn; start 3 rows above the eye.
    • 3 stripes at the side going around the body.
