How to crochet Nigiri Amigurumi

 

Materials:

  • Red, orange, white, and a small scrap of pink yarn
  • 3.25 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Safety eyes (size and style of your choice)
  • Stitch marker
  • Yarn needle
  • Polyfill stuffing

Body (Rice Part):

  1. Round 1: Start with white yarn, make a magic ring, and crochet 6 single crochets (sc) into the ring. (6 sts)
  2. Round 2: Increase in each stitch around. (12 sts)
  3. Round 3: (Increase in the first stitch, 1 sc in the next stitch) repeat around. (18 sts)
  4. Round 4: (Increase in the first stitch, 1 sc in the next 2 stitches) repeat around. (24 sts)
  5. Rounds 5-14: 1 sc in each stitch around. (24 sts)

Steps

Now, it's time to add safety eyes and stuffing:

  • Insert safety eyes one round above the magic ring.
  • Place stuffing inside.
  1. Round 15: (Invisible decrease, 1 sc in the next 2 stitches) repeat around. (18 sts)
  2. Round 16: (Invisible decrease, 1 sc in the next stitch) repeat around. (12 sts)
  3. Round 17: Invisible decrease 6 times. (6 sts)
  • Slip stitch in the next stitch, cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.

Fish (Top Part):

  6. Round 6: 1 sc in each stitch around. Switch to red yarn at the end. (24 sts)
  7. Round 7: 1 sc in each stitch around. (24 sts)

Easy and Quick Nigiri

Tail:

Make two tails:

  1. Round 1: Start with orange yarn, make a magic ring, and crochet 4 sc into the ring. (4 sts)
  2. Round 2: Increase in the first stitch, 1 sc in the next stitch, increase in the next stitch, 1 sc in the next. (6 sts)
  3. Round 3: Increase, 1 sc in the next 3 stitches. (8 sts)
  4. Round 4: Increase, 1 sc in the next stitch. Repeat. (12 sts)
  5. Rounds 5-6: 1 sc in each stitch around. (12 sts)
  6. Round 7: Invisible decrease 6 times. (6 sts)
  • Slip stitch and leave a tail for sewing.

Nigiri

Assembly:

  1. Attach the fish to the rice:
    • Position the fish on the rice ensuring the rough side is downwards.
    • Sew the fish onto the rice ensuring only the bottom layer of stitches is used.
  2. Attach the tails to the fish:
    • Sew both tails at a slight angle onto the fish using the leftover yarn tail.
  3. Add blush:
    • Use pink yarn and sew a small line under each eye, or alternatively,
    • Dab a bit of pink makeup under each eye.

Optional: Add a small smile if desired in a similar way to the blush by stitching.
