Crochet Amigurumi Lion Cub Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Relay loom hook or any crochet hook
  • Stitch marker or a C-clip
  • Two 10mm safety eyes with backings
  • Polyfill or stuffing material (cotton balls, tissues, etc.)
  • Bands in the following colors:
    • Main body color: Mango
    • Flower crown color: Jelly neon green
    • Nose and tail color: Rain Web Store (brown cocoa)
    • Flower color: Opaque pink (from the pink camo pack)

Abbreviations:

  • MR: Magic ring
  • SC: Single crochet
  • INC: Increase
  • DEC: Decrease

Step-by-Step Pattern:

Arms (Make 2):

  1. Magic Ring of 7 using main body color (Mango).
    • Wrap a band around your hook three times to form a cap band.
    • Pull another band through the cap band, reclaim, and pull the back loop over the front loop.
    • Repeat 6 more times to get 7 stitches.
  2. 9 rows of SC around (one SC in each stitch).
    • Use a stitch marker to keep track of rounds.
    • Remember to stuff the arms lightly before closing.
    • Close off by slip knotting and tucking in the ends.

Legs (Make 2):

  1. Magic Ring of 8 using main body color (Mango).
    • Similar to the arms but with 8 stitches.
  2. 9 rows of SC around.

Ears (Make 2):

  5. 3 rows of SC around (22 stitches per row).

Adding Features to Head:

  1. Attach the safety eyes and nose with three nose color bands.
  2. Attach the ears at the top of the head.

Flower Crown (Optional):

  1. Using Jelly neon green:
    • Wrap a band around the hook three times.
    • Double loop two green bands and pull through.
    • Repeat until you reach the desired length.
  2. Create flowers:
    • Apply triple-wrapped bands and pull through another pink band five times.
    • Attach flowers onto the green vine.

Body:

  1. Attach body color bands to the head bottom.
    • Create 12 stitches in a circle around the head bottom.
  2. Single + Increase (18 stitches).
  3. 4 rows of SC around (18 stitches per row).
  4. Attach arms at the end of the 4th row.
  5. 4 rows of SC around (18 stitches per row).
  6. Attach legs at the end of the 4th row.
  7. Add stuffing as needed to shape your lion cub.

Closing the Body:

  1. Single + Decrease (12 stitches).
    • Alternate between one SC and one decrease.
  2. Decreases until the body is closed.

Final Adjustments and Assembly:

  1. Adjust legs and arms as required by knotting or further stitching them into the body.
  2. Attach the tail to the back and adjust the flower crown as needed.
