  9. Slip stitch into the third chain of the initial chain 3 to complete this first round.

Second Round:

  2. Work 2 half-double crochets in the next 2 stitches. To make a half double crochet (hdc): yarn over, insert your hook, grab the yarn, yarn over, pull through all three loops on the hook.
  3. Repeat that pattern (2 half-double crochets in the next stitch) once more.
  4. Half double crochet in the next 4 stitches.
  5. Single crochet in the next 2 stitches. For a single crochet: insert hook, grab the yarn, yarn over, pull through two loops.
  6. Half double crochet in the next stitch.
  7. Work 2 half-double crochets in each of the next 5 stitches.
  8. Half double crochet in the next stitch.

  10. Half double crochet in the next 4 stitches.
  11. Work 2 half-double crochets in each of the next 2 stitches.
  12. Half double crochet in the last stitch.
  13. Slip stitch into the chain 2.

Finish the Sole:

  • Weave in your ends with a yarn needle.

Strap:

  1. Join yarn with a slip stitch about 6 stitches up from the sole's midpoint.
  2. Chain 10.
  3. Slip stitch to the centre hole on the flip-flop; ensure you're catching a front post to secure the strap.
  4. Chain 10 again.
  5. Slip stitch to the opposite side of the strap.
  6. Slip stitch up each chain on the strap to reinforce it.

Connecting Soles:

  1. Place the two soles together.
  2. Slip stitch around the edges to join them until you reach the top.
  3. To create an optional opening for Chapstick before the loop, slip stitch only in one of the soles two times.
  4. Chain 10 to create a loop for the keychain.
  5. Slip stitch into the same space, and then into the next 2 spaces on just one of the soles if you want to keep the opening.
  6. After the loop, continue slip stitching both soles together again until you reach the beginning.

Finish:

  • Weave in any remaining loose ends.
  • Attach a keychain ring through the loop.

Optional Chapstick Opening:

  • If you created an opening for Chapstick, make sure it's the size you want. If not, adjust by connecting the two soles as needed.

Now, your crochet flip-flop keychain is complete. Remember to add your keychain hardware, and your project is ready for use or gifting!
